ShareRound Terms of Use

By creating an account, you agree to the following:

What ShareRound Does

ShareRound is a platform that helps you share items with people you know (friends, family, co-workers, community members, etc.) through sharing circles and connections. We provide the tools to connect sharers and borrowers, but we do not own, inspect, or control any items shared through the app.

Your Responsibilities

Custom Borrowing Terms

ShareRound lets you attach your own lending terms to items, such as but not limited to time limits, care instructions, or responsibility for damage. These are informational tools to help you and the other person set expectations. ShareRound does not verify, enforce, or mediate them, and they are not agreements with ShareRound. Whether they create any obligation between you and another user is up to you and them; ShareRound is not a party to any such arrangement and takes no position on it.

Risks You Accept

Sharing items with others involves inherent risks, including but not limited to: items being damaged, lost, stolen, or returned late; items not working as expected; or injury resulting from the use of a shared item.

By using ShareRound, you acknowledge and accept these risks. You agree that any sharing arrangement is between you and the other person, not between you and ShareRound.

What ShareRound Is Not Responsible For

ShareRound is not responsible for:

ShareRound does not mediate disputes and is not obligated to provide records, evidence, or testimony in any dispute between users.

Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, ShareRound and its creators shall not be held liable for any damages, losses, claims, or expenses arising from your use of the platform or any sharing arrangement made through it. This includes direct, indirect, incidental, and consequential damages.

Your Account

Account Termination

We may suspend or remove your account if you violate these terms or misuse the platform. You may delete your account at any time in the app's settings. When an account is closed, your profile and items are removed from circles and connections, though records of past activity involving other users (such as lending history) may remain visible to those users.

Your Content

You own the photos, comments, and other content you post on ShareRound. By posting, you give ShareRound a limited license to store, display, and share that content within the app as needed for the service to work (for example, showing your item photos to members of your circles). You are responsible for what you post and must have the right to share it.

Prohibited Uses

You may not use ShareRound to:

Privacy

Our Privacy Policy explains what information we collect and how we use it. You can read it at www.shareround.org/privacy.html. By using ShareRound, you agree to the practices described there.

Dispute Resolution

If you have a dispute with ShareRound, contact us first at cordell@shareround.org and we will try to resolve it informally. If we cannot resolve it within 30 days, both sides agree to try mediation before filing any legal action, with a mediator chosen by mutual agreement and costs shared equally.

Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising from these terms or your use of ShareRound will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Marin County, California.

Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. If we make significant changes, we will notify you through the app. Your continued use of ShareRound after changes are posted means you accept the updated terms.
